Business

Business – the way we make money. Whether dealing with large transnational corporations, or your neighborhood convenience store, accounting and tax policy can impact how your run your organization. As President Calvin Coolidge said, “chief business of the American people is business” — it is at the core of who we are as a nation as well as how we earn our livings.

For those that are 1099 Workers, most of the rules that apply to business tax matters also apply to you on your Schedule C filing. So while you think of yourself as a freelancer or contractor, you really are a self employed owner-operator and you will grow your practice if you think of yourself as one and plan accordingly.

We love covering tax and financial matters that apply broadly and generally to the business community, though we sometimes often geek out on more narrowly focused topics that are only of interest to a select industry.

Not every area of business is based on entrepreneurship, there are many areas that impact people that work in corporate jobs, both directly and indirectly. High earning individuals may earn their primarily income from a “day job” but invest in real estate to build wealth and create more income.

While a huge topic to cover, the area of business is of major interest to Americans of all income levels, backgrounds, races, and ethnicities. The American Dream is based on the idea of being able to own your own home, raise your family, and start your own small business.

This is a quick minor update on the Shuttered Venue Operator Grant. It's a little different than PPP. This was very specific as to who can apply. You had to be a live venue operator. If you produce theatrical performances, live performances, concerts, movie theaters, museums, talent representatives, all these folks got super, super hit by COVID because even if they wanted to open, they really couldn't.
