The IRS and State Tax agencies have deadlines. When we are concerned that our clients aren’t paying attention to our email notices, we sometimes put it out on the blog and social media to help get it in front of them.

Annually the IRS updates its limits, brackets, etc., to reflect inflation or other indexes as required by law.

2022 Tax Filing Season Announcements

The IRS announced that the 2022 Tax Filing Season begins on January 24th. This announcement means the IRS will begin accepting returns on January 24th for the 2021 tax year. I will review some of the key takeaways from the IRS press release since we are still navigating the pandemic, which has historically caused complications and confusion.

Today's Tax Tip Tuesday is your reminder to pay your second 2021 quarterly estimated tax payment if you're somebody who needs to pay those, many people don't pay them. If you only have a job where you get a W2 and you're on the payroll, probably aren't making estimated payments, but if you're a business owner or a freelancer something like that, you're probably having to make these payments. So how do you know how much to pay?

If any of your friends or relatives fall into this category, the deadline to file is 3 PM Eastern on November 21st. If they don't file now, you can request it as a credit on your 2020 taxes, but if they don't file, this may not help.
