Hello Everyone. Today’s business quickie is in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic Heritage Month begins September 15th because September 15th is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Hispanics are now “the most rapidly growing segment of the country’s economy. According to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Latino-owned businesses have grown 31.6% since 2012, more than double the growth of all American businesses.” In honor of Hispanic heritage month, I want to highlight finance-related Hispanic-led and Hispanic-owned businesses and organizations helping their communities and pushing the needle forward for business owners.
The first business I want to talk about is Camino Financial, a Hispanic-led and Hispanic-owned lending business. The owners of Camino Financial started their business to help Hispanic entrepreneurs after seeing their mother struggle with financing her chain of Mexican restaurants. They aim to lend money to historically underserved communities, and I love what they do for their communities.
The next group I want to highlight is The Latino Coalition (TLC). TLC is an advocacy and membership organization for U.S. Hispanic businesses. Their goal is ensuring every Hispanic American who wants to start and grow a business has the opportunity to do so. In addition, they advocate for small businesses at a government level and host networking events. This one is interesting because, as a business owner, you don’t have time to advocate for yourself at the government level, so it’s nice to see that groups are doing this specifically with the Hispanic community in mind.
The last business I want to discuss is one right here in Miami, the BMI Financial Group. BMI has 48 consecutive years of experience dedicated exclusively to Latin America and the Caribbean. These insurers have many accreditations and are very well respected globally.
It’s fantastic to see so much growth and success for the Hispanic population—anyway, Happy Hispanic Heritage Month. I will see you all next time.
