2013 Corporate Tax Return Deadline: March 17, 2014
Typically C- and S- corporation tax returns are due on March 15th, but this year that date is a Saturday, so the kind folks at the IRS make the following Monday, March 17th, the deadline instead.

The IRS says that you really only need to hold onto tax returns and supporting documentation (like W-2s, 1099s, deduction receipts) for three years after the date of filing (April 15th or later if you filed an extension).

Today I called the IRS regarding a client's amended tax return. The agent told me that due to backups caused by the government shutdown amended returns will take 12 to 16 weeks to process.
IRS Makes Billions of Dollars of Wrong Earned Income Tax Credit Payments
I find this shocking. If the government wants to know where to focus IRS audit efforts it should take a look at the earned income credit program. I'm sure there are plenty of needy people who benefit from the program, but the abuse is outrageous.
