Is it time to outsource?

Hi everybody. It is Wednesday, it is hump day. You’re going to get a little quickie with Bette to get you through the rest of the week. And today we’re going to talk about, kind of important topic for business owners, how to know when it’s time to outsource. And anyone who’s has their own business, started a business, runs a business, you realize that you have many, many more things to get done in the day then you have time to get it done.

So the only way that you can really handle that situation is by delegating. And sometimes that means you hire, bring on staff, but sometimes you can just outsource. And a lot of times when you outsource, you might find that you can get a similar service that you would otherwise hire someone for at a much better price. So for example, I am not a marketer. I don’t mind creating content like doing go-lives like this other stuff, I do webinars, I don’t mind going and speaking about things that I know, which is accounting, tax, etc. But how to actually implement a marketing strategy, I don’t know how to do it, so I’ve had to outsource that. Hiring I find to be a very difficult thing to do. So when I realized that I needed to hire people, I outsourced it to an expert, an HR expert to help me to screen candidates, etc, someone who had much more experience in that field.

What’s nice about choosing to outsource things is that you get a piece of somebody else’s brain at a great price. So if you’re a business owner and you find that you spend an inordinate amount of time doing things you don’t like, say like maybe bookkeeping, it would be a great time to outsource to a fantastic accounting firm, like mine, that offers this as a service. So the thing that’s great about choosing to outsource your bookkeeping and your accounting is that you don’t need to increase your payroll and we’re going to do it much faster than you are. This means your valuable time can be used doing the things that you actually want to do and enjoy doing, and probably why you went into business in the first place.

So my advice, if you’ve hit a point where you don’t have enough time to get everything done, there are tasks that your business really needs and it’s holding your business growth back, it’s probably time to outsource some of those things that are outside of your expertise. You’re going to save money in the long run, you’re going to make more money in the long run because instead of spending time doing things that are not good at and you just hate doing, you’re going to free yourself up to do what it is that runs your business. So that’s my quickie for the day and we’ll see you tomorrow.
