Our Founding
Bette launched Bette Hochberger, Inc. in 2012, after being frustrated working in public accounting where owner-operator firms were dismissed as “Quickbooks Accounts” to focus on larger firms and the related audit business. Originally focused on the underserved market of women entrepreneurs, her firm and interests rapidly expanded to work with law firms, consultants, and real estate firms. With experience in the startup worlds of Miami and Boston, she later expanded to the world of venture capital backed startups, an unique niche of companies that need to put together big company GAAP reports for small business sized balance sheets.
Her History
In addition to her public accounting career, Bette Hochberger turned around the financial structures of the Hebrew Academy of Greater Miami, a Jewish private school launched in 1947 from the Jewish Communities wreckage after the Holocaust. By building a professional back office and bringing the organization into compliance with modern 501(c)3 practices and relevant reporting systems, this venerable institution of the South Florida Jewish community was able to launch a major capital campaign to expand and grow the school to serve a growing community.
After her experience as an undergraduate at MIT and graduate school at Nova Southeastern University, Bette Hochberger became passionate about expanding opportunities for women in leadership, STEM, and business. As local business leader, Bette served as a mentor at Incubate Miami, one of South Florida’s first start-up incubators, and served on the board of Femfessionals Fort Lauderdale.
Bette’s Passions
Bette Hochberger is a lover of music and the arts, dating back to performing in her high school marching band. You can find her in the VIP section of most local music festivals, or enjoying the latest touring performance at the Broward Center for Performing Arts. She loves to act, performing with the Royal Chessmen Stage Combat Troupe, where she recently starred as Captain Carrie “the Kracken” Roberts in the Royal Chessmen Pirate Faire and Speakeasy, and Yennefer of Vengerberg in the Royal Chessmen Witcher Tribute Show. She also sings with the Royal Chessmen Sirens, a Renaissance Faire inspired a cappella group. She has attended the Society of American Fight Directors training session in Orlando, Tourist Trap.
Breaking Down Barriers
Bette Hochberger was the founder of a Girl Scout Troop in Hollywood, FL to enable Orthodox Jewish Girls to participate in Girl Scouting without compromising their religious ideals. As a committee member of Cub Scout Pack 18, and then founding Scoutmaster of Troop 18G, she helped guide her Synagogue Cub Scout Pack into being the first Pack to admit girls in South Florida, and was one of the only two troops for girls to start in South Florida Council on February 1st, the first day Boy Scouts of America admitted women.
Serving Others
In addition to helping her clients achieve their hopes and dreams, Bette focuses on serving her community. She ran free webinars on PPP and the Cares Act to the South Florida business community, helping numerous local businesses survive the COVID-19 lockdowns. She is a Junior Trustee of the Jewish Women’s Foundation, a member of the Jewish Womens’ Executive Council at the Jewish Federation of Broward, and an active volunteer with Boy Scouts of America.
