Post-Move Checklist for New Florida Residents

Begin by updating your address with the United States Postal Service (USPS), as well as with any relevant institutions such as banks, insurance providers, and utility companies. You can do this online or by visiting your local post office.

Familiarize yourself with healthcare providers in your area and consider enrolling in a health insurance plan if you haven’t already done so. Florida offers a variety of healthcare options, including private insurance plans and government-sponsored programs like Medicaid.
Familiarize Yourself with Local Services
Take the time to familiarize yourself with local services such as grocery stores, healthcare facilities, schools, libraries, and recreational amenities. Exploring your new community will help you feel more at home and connected to your surroundings.
Update Legal Documents
Review and update important legal documents such as your will, trust, and power of attorney to reflect your new Florida residency. Consider consulting with an attorney familiar with Florida law to ensure your documents comply with state regulations.
